London Festival returns !
We
are delighted to announce that Jamel Debbouze will have his debut
'Jamel & the Comedy Club' in London on 1st June 2009 at the 02
Shepherds Bush Empire.
Jamel
Debbouze is a french comedian, actor and producer of Moroccan descent
who won national recognition in 2002 after acting in the french sitcom
"H" . Jamel has been part of French popular culture for years now; he
started out in stand-up comedy at a very young age and then moved into
radio, TV and film.
He was the winner of the Prix d'interprétation masculine at
the 2006 Cannes Film Festival for his part in Indigenes (Days of
Glory). The UK audience will be familiar with his work as 'Lucien' in
'Amelie' and also in Luc Besson's 'Angel-A'.
In
March 1999, Jamel started his own show "Jamel en scène"
where he talked about his childhood and show business. In 2002, Jamel
returned with a new show, "100% Debbouze". For three years, this show
played in the top Parisian theatres: Casino de Paris, Bataclan, Zenith
and Olympia before touring France, Morocco, Tunisia, Switzerland and
Belgium. When the DVD of this show went on sale in 2004, more than 1
million copies were sold.
In
2006, Jamel became the presenter of a new weekly TV show called 'Jamel
Comedy Club' where he presented the new generation of french humorists.
With this troup, Jamel came to the Casino de Paris in 2007 for a new
show 'Le Jamel Comedy Club envahit le Casino de Paris'. This show was
very successful, its run was extended and it also played in Canada.
Jamel
appears for the first time on a London stage. The Jamel Comedy Club is
a must see event for any french-speaking comedy lovers !
